Quilling – Beautiful Blooms
Your tutor will guide you through the step-by-step process of twirling, rolling and coiling paper into intricate floral shapes, learning the skills to make one blooming marvellous arrangement. At the end of the workshop you will have a miniature glass vase full of delicately quilled flowers.
Each arrangement is unique to you, with its own quirks and personality.

The History of Quilling
Quilling, also known as paper filigree, can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt. Intricate rolls of paper strips were used to decorate mummies’ coffins. Its popularity later spread to Europe during the Renaissance and was considered a favourite pastime among noblewomen. They would often adorn religious items and household objects with their delicate paper designs.
By the 18th century quilling had evolved into a widespread art form, with crafters creating ornate decoration for everything from pictures frames to tea caddies. Another resurgence of popularity during the Victorian era saw enthusiasts using quilling for greetings cards and keepsake boxes.
Quilling remains as popular as ever today, and is enjoyed by crafters of all ages.
